Blog Prop Bets

by Steve on May.28, 2009, under Poker Stories

The past few weeks pokerwise have not been great for business.  As a result the blog has started to become very boring and if nothing else negative.  I feel like this week I should try to liven things up a bit.  With the WSOP officially starting today with the $40K guaranteed I’m feeling like getting some action going.  Since poker is not going great, I’ve had to look else where to find a mark.

Moving Down

by Steve on May.25, 2009, under Poker Stories

I was looking over my books for the last few weeks and I’ve gotta say, there isn’t much to smile about.  MTTs I sit having cashed in only 2/40 during the last two weeks.  Early on this was due more to running bad than anything else, but after a little while the frustration started to build and I noticed some leaks that needed plugging.  Even after I fixed those I was still taking too many big gambles early on in MTTs when I did not need them.  Satties have actually treated me alright in the past few weeks.  I’ve won a few $109+ seats on FTP and really that’s what’s been keeping the BR alive.  Looking down at these numbers it seems to me the only solution is to move down and try to build back up.

FTP MSOP

by Steve on May.22, 2009, under Poker Stories

Looking over my stats and HHs over the past 10 days or so the numbers are ugly.  In my last 35MTTs I have cashed in only 2 with one near FT bubble in 11th.  Some of those have been mistakes by me, others have been QQ<JJ or <AJ etc, but however you look at it it’s been ugly.  Having said that one thing I’ve been able to keep is my confidence.  Most of my bust out hands I’ve taken the best of it going in, and lost on the other end.  My game right now is solid and it’s simply a matter of time before this streak comes to an end.  Hopefully this is me paying my dues and taking my lumps before a big score comes my way in the MSOP on FTP.

Film Sessions

by Steve on May.18, 2009, under Poker Stories

First off I’d like to thank everyone for their comments on my post about the downswing I’ve recently had.  I really appreciate the help some of you offered.  Also, to anyone who took issue with my “whining”, fuck you this is my blog Stick out tongue. That being said, I have cleared the sand out of my vagina and I’m ready to talk about the steps I’ve taken to get myself out of said slump.

Foxwoods: Always Good for an Interesting Time

by Steve on May.15, 2009, under Poker Stories

I’ve been trying my best to shake the demons of variance in my past few sessions.  Without much of an idea for staving off the junk I decided it might be a good idea to grab a day off.  So I found myself in Worcester at 4:45PM on Wednesday with no class and not wanting to play poker online.  Since I had nothing to do the next morning I decided to use my time to make my return to Foxwoods.  I figured playing in some soft cash games would do the soul some good (or might tilt me off even worse but I was willing to try it).
