Prop Bet Week 1 and Something Remote
by Steve on Jun.30, 2009, under Poker Stories
Well, the first week of my Prop Bet with felipebball came to a close without much excitement. As of Friday, June 27th, we have a grand total of two cashes between us. I managed to mincash in the $11 6max while felipebball was able to make a decent run in the $11KO. So far mixing it up with side action has not been the remedy for my MTT woes, but hopefully it will turn around quickly. On positive note, there have been plenty of interesting HHs to come out of the last week and I have one that was particularly interesting.
WPT Season 8 Schedule Announced
by Steve on Jun.25, 2009, under Poker Stories
I know the WSOP is still going on but I have accepted the fact that this year will not be my year to take Vegas by storm. On my horizon sits the WPT season 8 and all its glory. With the countdown to graduation at t-minus 11 months and counting, it will be a good test to try and build up the BR to play in some of the prelims. If things go well I might take down a seat or two to the WPT Championship event in each series and from their the sky is the limit. All I have to do is then win a WPT title and then…
Side Action: Day 1
by Steve on Jun.22, 2009, under Poker Stories
Now I can’t promise that this will be anywhere near as interesting as Ivey’s side action during the WSOP, but in the spirit of trying to get out of a funk I think this is a good way to add some incentive to the daily MTT grind. After one of my downswing blogs I got a message from felipebball about some side action. A few weeks and planning out later we’ve agree to some additional action on a few of my regular MTTs on FTP. Hopefully some added juice will change the momentum a bit.
Mixing Things Up
by Steve on Jun.19, 2009, under Poker Stories
Over the past few days I’ve been taking a little bit of a breather from poker. Now I promise this isn’t going to turn into another bad beat/variance sob story. I really was just looking to goof around for a few days and power down. That means various different things depending on who your talking to. For me personally, it means playing a ridiculous amount of video games, watching tons of movies, and going to dinner with my girlfriend. The important part however is simply that I just get away from the game for a few days.
My Own $0-$10,000 Challenge
by Steve on Jun.16, 2009, under Poker Stories
I see these blog posts all the time so I figured I would throw my hat into the mix. I’m sure at this point everyone has heard of Chris Ferguson’s challenge where he turned $0 into $10K in a little under 18 months. The point of the exercise was to show the importance of BR management. Following the rule of never buying into a cash game with more than 5% of your roll (leaving when you hit 10%) and using a 2% rule for MTTs Ferguson accomplished his goal and since then everyone that has a pulse in the poker world is trying to do some variation of this. Well, after reading some of the other blogs on striking it rich I realized I was on the same warpath as well.
